97% say employee engagement is top priority for 2010/11
18 Jun 2010
Over 30 senior internal communicators attended the first event organised by the Institute of Internal Communication’s London Region last night. The debate was facilitated by The Team's CEO, Julian Grice.
Held at HMRC, Sue Primmer (former Assistant CEO, London Borough of Hackney) and Simon MacDowall (Communications & Marketing Director, HMRC) were the key speakers in the event that focused on the role of public sector internal communicators during this time of austerity.
The debate also addressed the learnings from private sector communicators over the past few years.
A straw poll on the night revealed that 97% of internal communicators are putting employee engagement at the top of their priorities for the coming year.
Given market conditions, it’s perhaps surprising to learn that only 62% felt their planned communications activities would be constrained by budgets in 2010/2011.
