Accessibility

We pride ourselves on our inter-disciplinary knowledge and expertise developing accessible digital solutions so that they can be used by everyone whatever their cognitive or physical limitations – all under the broader umbrella of Inclusive Design.

In order to do this effectively so that solutions are usable and accessible to all audiences, we believe in a concerted effort from Copywriters, Experience Architects, Designers and Developers. Our team understand the issues that those with physical or cognitive impairments face when using digital services. We believe this, combined with user research to inform and validate solutions, is the only way to truly design the best solutions for all and adhere to the latest guidelines – a far superior method than just relying on strict adherence to coding checklists.

All the sites and digital services we design are compliant with the W3C’s Web Accessibility Initiative Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. All HTML is built to at least WCAG 1.0 WAI-A standards and we regularly build to WAI-AA. The Team have a standardised, vigorous internal testing regime to ensure all code is of optimal quality. We use a variety of automated tools coupled with robust manual checking to ensure compliance.

All sites are checked against the latest browsers, including Internet Explorer, Safari and Firefox.

Where practical, we also advocate user research with users living with different disabilities in order to inform and validate design solutions – this helps us to understand the specific needs of the different audiences and develop solutions that work for them to be as usable as possible.
