EDF Energy is one of the UK’s largest energy companies and a wholly owned subsidiary of the EDF Group, one of Europe's largest energy groups. They generate around 6% of the UK's electricity and deliver it to 7.9 million customer homes and businesses through their public networks. We have been working with them in order to increase health and safety measures internally for their 12,000 employees.

We’ve all had a trip or fall at least once in our lives and perhaps, if something was warning us of that danger in advance, some of us would not have the scars we have today.

Challenge.

EDF Energy had concerns about how safely their 12,000 employees were working. It was clear that field staff understood the dangers of working with electricity. However, both they and office staff were less aware of other workplace risks.

Insight.

To help people really focus on their wellbeing we decided they needed an experience that brought the dangers alive and made the usually dry issue of health and safety into something staff really engaged with. As a way of giving something back to employees, EDF introduced the ‘Smile’ campaign, offering deals on everything from spa days to cinema tickets.

Result.

To tell staff about the scheme, we created an appealing animated video and eye-catching posters for EDF offices. We have been working with them in order to point out the health and safety risks to all employees in their 20+ offices throughout the UK.
