The novelist Jo Rees has asked The Team to think of ways to help her sell her new book, Platinum.
Audience.
Jo Rees, a friend of The Team, had a book to promote. The challenge was how to raise the profile of this book to make it the natural choice for holiday reading at the airport. Jo was booked onto chat shows and book signings, but could the web be leveraged to improve much-needed word of mouth marketing?
Challenge.
A traditional web site had been built, but the target audience was already socialising elsewhere (mainly Facebook and Twitter). So it was essential to join them there.
Insight.
The Team helped Jo to bring the characters to life on Twitter and they lived out the prequel to the book online and in real time there. This was supplemented by a Facebook Quiz - all of which drew attention back to the primary website and raised awareness of the book.
Result.
The campaign generated significant buzz and sales are strong! You can still follow Peaches Gold, Frankie Willis and Lady Emma Harvey on Twitter as the story unfolds up to the start of the book. The Facebook Quiz is also still available and this will continue to draw attention to the book long after the initial campaign has finished.
