And we’ve been creating their annual report for more than a decade.

Traditional values with a modern outlook

Audience.

Though Shepherd Neame is family controlled, and isn’t a fully listed, it still distributes annual report and accounts to employees past and present, the industry, its suppliers, publicans and journalists… all of whom are invited to the company’s annual general meeting.

Challenge.

While superbly traditional, Britain’s oldest brewer has always had its eye on the future. In past centuries the company was amongst the first to harness steam power and see the business opportunities presented by the railway. We set out to capture both tradition and forward-thinking in the company’s annual report.

Insight.

We listen very closely to the company’s Chief Executive and Financial Director. We’ve visited many of its 300 plus pubs, and researched the business and its brands. As a result, the ideas we’ve come up with have made the annual report epitomise everything the company stands for.

Result.

The 48 page annual document we’ve introduced storytelling devices like timelines and case studies to showcase the company’s values, heritage and way of working. And the Q&A section we’ve added strengthens Chief Executive Jonathan Neame’s position as a voice in the industry.
