A trusted authority on Behavioural Science
We love using behavioural science in our work at The Team. So we’re incredibly excited to announce that November’s With The Team talk will be delivered by Professor Ivo Vlaev.
Ivo Vlaev is among the leading behavioural psychologists in the UK and worldwide. He researches human decision making and behaviour change. His published articles are in wide-ranging topics and he has a long-standing interest in finance as well as in health.
Ivo works for Warwick Business School, University of Warwick, where he is a professor of behavioural science. In 2010, he co-authored the Mindspace report published by the UK Cabinet Office, advising local and national policymakers on how to effectively use behavioural insights in their policy setting.
The Behavioural Science Group at Warwick Business School, which is the largest behavioural science department in Europe, is bound together by a vision of understanding, predicting and guiding human behaviour in the widest possible range of contexts.

What will be covered in this talk?
During his 40-minute talk, Ivo will explore 3 major topics:
✔️ What people think they know about themselves, and why this is all wrong
So many consumers – you included – think that they make reasonable, independent choices. They don’t. Being aware of this is critical for businesses, marketers, and consumers themselves. This is as relevant to you as a professional as it is you as a human being.
✔️ Why behavioural science matters in the workplace
When we understand people, and why they do what they do, then we can design better experiences. When we do this, we create happier workplaces and drive productivity.
✔️ The integrity and ethics of behavioural science
It can be seen as a dark art. There are numerous tricks out there designed to make people part with their money. From the loss aversion that comes with missing out on that last room on Booking.com to the perceived value for money on that buy one get one free offer. But BeSci for Good is what really matters.
There will be time for questions at the end.
This will be a fascinating, insightful, and inspirational talk from a leading voice in the sector and will have relevance for marketers, brand makers, business leaders, communicators and HR professionals.
Professor Ivo VlaevBehavioural science is really rather simple. It's about creating the right outcomes for people. And to do that, you just need to understand what makes people do what they do.
